Bushey Pond & Patio

This project focused on transforming an existing garden into a calm, cohesive outdoor space centred around water, natural stone, and high-quality hard landscaping.

The clients already had a pond but wanted to significantly increase both its size and depth, creating a more impressive feature suitable for koi while improving long-term water quality. We carefully redesigned the layout to more than double the pond, reshaping it with natural stone edging to give an organic, flowing form that sits comfortably within the garden.

A key part of the redesign was the introduction of a new multi-level stone waterfall, constructed using carefully selected natural rock. The waterfall not only adds movement and sound to the garden, but also enhances oxygenation and visual interest, becoming a true focal point from multiple viewpoints.

To complement the pond area, we enlarged the existing patio using Indian sandstone paving, chosen for its subtle colour variation and durability. The new patio creates a generous, practical seating area that seamlessly connects the house to the garden, making the space ideal for both everyday use and entertaining.

The design was completed with a low perimeter wall clad in slate tiles, adding contrast and definition to the layout. Discreet integrated lighting was installed within the cladding, providing a soft ambient glow in the evenings and highlighting the clean lines and textures of the materials.

The result is a balanced garden that blends natural features with contemporary hard landscaping — a tranquil, functional outdoor space that can be enjoyed throughout the day and into the evening.
