Bushey Full Garden Redesign Project

This project delivers a complete transformation of a suburban garden into a refined, contemporary outdoor living space designed for year-round enjoyment. The brief was to create a seamless connection between house, garden, and garden studio while maximising usable space, visual flow, and evening ambience.

Large-format porcelain paving was used throughout to establish clean lines and a modern aesthetic, complemented by contrasting dark edging to define levels and pathways. Carefully considered changes in elevation create subtle zoning without interrupting sightlines, ensuring the garden feels open yet structured.

A bespoke garden studio forms the architectural focal point, framed by soft planting and integrated lighting. Adjacent paved areas provide flexible seating and dining zones, including a sheltered alfresco space ideal for entertaining. The layout encourages movement through the garden while maintaining clear views back to the house.

Planting was selected to soften the strong hard landscaping elements, combining evergreen structure with seasonal interest. Raised beds and feature planting areas introduce texture and colour, while low-maintenance lawn areas balance the hard landscaping.

Lighting plays a key role in the design, with discreet uplighting, feature illumination, and warm architectural lighting extending the usability of the space into the evening. The result is a garden that transitions effortlessly from daytime family use to an inviting night-time retreat.

This project showcases a thoughtful balance of contemporary design, practical outdoor living, and high-quality craftsmanship—creating a garden that is as functional as it is visually striking.
