Great Missenden Pond Project
This project showcases the transformation of a previously smaller pond into a beautifully balanced, natural water feature that now sits at the heart of the client’s front garden. Designed to complement the surrounding landscape, the pond has been carefully enlarged and reimagined to feel established, calm, and in harmony with nature.
A key element of the redesign was the construction of a flowing waterfall, thoughtfully positioned so it can be enjoyed from the house. The gentle movement of water adds sound, life, and visual interest, enhancing the overall sense of tranquillity throughout the garden.
Pond plants were introduced to help establish a healthy natural balance within the water, supporting clarity, oxygenation, and wildlife. These plantings soften the pond edges, blend the water seamlessly into the lawn and borders, and ensure the pond evolves beautifully through the seasons.
At the centre of the pond, a bespoke duck house was created to encourage natural wildlife and provide a safe, welcoming habitat. This feature adds character and purpose to the pond, reinforcing its role as a living ecosystem rather than just a decorative element.
Now a striking focal point, the pond is the first feature visitors see as they arrive at the property. It creates an immediate sense of arrival and sets the tone for the rest of the garden, offering a memorable and peaceful introduction as people drive in.
This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful pond design can enhance both the beauty and biodiversity of a garden, while creating a feature that is enjoyed from every angle, indoors and out.
