Hemel Hempstead Garden Project
This project involved the complete transformation of a sloping garden into a refined, multi-level outdoor space that balances structure, usability, and visual appeal. The design focuses on creating clear, functional zones while managing changes in level through carefully constructed terraces and retaining walls.
Porcelain paving was used throughout to deliver a clean, contemporary finish, seamlessly linking the house to the garden and providing generous areas for dining and entertaining. Changes in height are resolved with stepped transitions and stone-faced retaining walls, which not only stabilise the landscape but also add architectural interest and definition.
A series of terraced lawn areas and raised planting beds introduce greenery and softness, while remaining practical and easy to maintain. Planting has been thoughtfully selected to thrive within the setting, enhancing texture and seasonal interest without overwhelming the space.
A timber pergola and decked seating area create a sheltered retreat within the garden, offering a quiet place to relax away from the main patio. Integrated lighting within the retaining walls and planting beds adds a subtle architectural glow, extending the garden’s usability into the evening.
The finished garden is a cohesive, contemporary landscape that maximises space, improves flow, and significantly enhances the overall enjoyment and value of the property.
